“A unique piece, an original airbrush rendering of Chewbacca by renowned Star Wars artist Tsuneo Sanda. Measures 18 x 12 inches on art board. Originally accomplished by Sanda for use in Star Wars Insider magazine (#28) as full-page piece to an interview with Peter Mayhew who played Chewbacca in the original films. Signed and dated by Sanda in white at lower right: “DECMEBER 24, 1995 T. SANDA”

This is a particularly rare piece in light of the fact that every single Star Wars piece made by Sanda for Star Wars Insider magazine and every example has been purchased by George Lucas (at $15,000 per painting) except for the example offered here. This one extant example is from the collection of Dan Madsen, the founder of Star Wars Insider. Other examples of Sanda’s work can be found on his website.
