H&G: LucasArts’ Ward Talks Wii Lightsaber Game…

Wow looks like a lot of people are going to get their wish!! A Wii Lightsaber game…. how awesome would that be? I’d probably buy a Wii just for that game!
As part of the final Hollywood & Games Summit panel in Los Angeles, LucasArts’ Jim Ward has been discussing the oft-raised question of a lightsaber game for Nintendo’s Wii, saying that the company has internal prototypes running using the Wiimote.
In response to a question from session moderator N’Gai Croal of Newsweek asking: “What would it take to make a lightsaber game for the Wii?”, Ward, who is President of LucasArts and a Senior VP at Lucasfilm, commented:
“We’re all over that, and internally we have already played a lightsaber game on the Wii. It’s a lot of fun, and we’ll get there.”
He added that the whole concept of a title using a lightsaber of Nintendo Wii was “…in place! There’ll be some stuff out this Fall - it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
It’s unclear whether Ward could have been referring to the TT Games-developed Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, which will debut later this year on multiple formats including the Wii, or whether the company is planning further, as yet unannounced Wii-specific Star Wars games.

This is so killer! I want one. The only bad thing is Alienware tends to be, er… well more than I can afford. It would cool if you just order the cases.
“There’s little in the way of details on what you get under the hood but I’m sure it’ll be no different than any other high-end gaming rig with a selection of speedy chips, fat HDDs and whizz-bang graphics cards. This is what the marketing guff says –

* Features an exclusive Imperial wallpaper and desktop skin as well as a pulse-pounding Star Wars movie soundtrack.
* Powered by AMD® Athlon™ 64 and 64 FX processors, NVIDIA SLI™ graphics technology, and PCI Express technology.”
for the Light Side that is:
Features breathtaking artwork of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Luke Skywalker and the other heroic Rebels displayed on a showstopping black case design.
* Includes an exclusive Rebel wallpaper and desktop skin worthy of the Jedi name in addition to the thrilling music of a Star Wars movie soundtrack.
* Equips you with the cutting-edge performance of AMD® Athlon™ 64 and 64 FX processors, NVIDIA SLI™ graphics technology, and PCI Express technology.”
