Nintendo Wii? The Force Unleashed?… Big News…

September 18, 2007

Holy crap!! LucasArts.com has just released that The Force Unleashed will be released in April of 2008, but not only that, it will be released for the Nintendo Wii!!!! Wooo! This will make a lot of happy fans! Now all we can hope for is a PC release as well.

Lucasarts has announced that next spring, gamers will be able to wield the Wii Remote as a lightsaber in the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed videogame for the Wii. Players will be able to control the Lightsaber with the Wii Remote and the Nunchuk will be used for force powers. The game sets place between Episode III and Episode IV with Darth Vader secretly training a Sith Apprentice who happens to be you. The game will also feature an exclusive duel mode where players will be able to compete head-to-head with their friends (it’s unknown if it can be done online).

The official website has also released a second Web Documentary entitled, “A Force Wrecking Ball”. You can check it out on the official website here. I’ll post it in our downloads section when it becomes available.

Haden Blackman has released a Production Diary. He discusses mainly how the actors are intergraded into the game. It’s a very interesting read so be sure to check it out here.

Chad Vader - Day Shift Manager (Episode 7)…

September 16, 2007

It’s been a little while since I posted an episode one of my favorite Star Wars spoofs, Chad Vader: Day Shift Manager… this is Episode 7 of 8. Enjoy! Here are some tidbits with info on season 2!

  • The primary location will continue to be Empire Market, a.k.a. the Willy Street Co-op.
  • A corporate takeover of the store, introduced at the end of the first season, will play a part in the new season’s story arc. There will be changes in store there for its employees, including Chad, Yonda notes, some of which are hinted at in their video preview released a few weeks ago.
  • Commander Wickstrom (played by Paul Guse) is going to start his training. “His levitation in Episode 8 is a prelude to Chad continuing his training,” notes Yonda. “This may or may not play a major part in the season.”
  • “Weird Jimmy” (played by Craig Johnson) will continue to develop as a major character. In an interview with Image Icon Entertainment, Sloan and Yonda discussed their plans for him. “We’re going to learn a little bit more about who he is,” said Yonda, and “about how he became weird,” continued Sloan.
There will be one or two new major characters. “I can’t really discuss them too much,” says Yonda. They have sketched out new characters, but no names for them have been finalized.
  • “There will be at least one major character that dies,” says Yonda, quipping that he is giving this hint in the spirit of J.K. Rowling.
  • They plan to continue nods to that long ago and far away galaxy. “We’re going to find other ways to make it like Star Wars other than just quoting lines from it,” says Yonda, “but we don’t want to simply continue using lines from the movies.”
  • One of their hopes on this front are cameos. “We’re hoping to score some cameos from people in other Star Wars movies or other guest stars,” Yonda notes, though nothing is confirmed yet.
  • They hope to utilize more green screen and special effects. “We have some plans to introduce some bigger and better effects,” says Yonda. One example: “We’re going to start introducing machinery.” Does this mean something like droids? “You never know,” he replies.
  • Blame Society is not sure about the number of episodes in the second season. “It may depend upon who we cut a deal with to make them,” notes Yonda, “it may depend on a lot of different things.”

The first episode of the new season is all plotted out, and should be set primarily at the grocery store. “We really want to start shooting this fall,” says Yonda. “In the entertainment business, stuff is always slow to happen; it might take a few months, or we might get stuff figured out sooner, so who knows.”

For those who havn’t seen the first episodes yet, be sure to check them out!

    Chad Vader: Episode 1
    Chad Vader: Episode 2
    Chad Vader: Episode 3
    Chad Vader: Episode 4
    Chad Vader: Episode 5
    Chad Vader: Episode 6

In this Episode:“Chad and Commander Wickstrom hatch a plan to get Chad’s job back. Customers beware!”

I also want to remind everyone about our on going Lightsaber give-a-way contest. I’m kind of disappointed in the amount of entries we’ve received. So far we’ve only received a handful of entries. Don’t forget, all you have to do is right a few lines. By the looks of it, I will be extending this contest until October 20th to try and gain some more entries. I’ll will be doing some more advertising as well which should help.

    The Force Unleashed release date…

    September 13, 2007

Well this could be some good news.. we may finally have a release date set for The Force Unleashed. According to GamerVision.com:

“Straight from the annual Gamestop Conference in Las Vegas:

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will launch in America on April 4, 2008.”

This could be just another rumor, but I really have my doubts. I’ve heard from other sourcesas well that it would be released between March and April of 2008. Hopefully Lucas Arts will release the official date soon! and then give us a demo… sweet.
