Force Unleashed: Reviews Pouring In + Mixed Feelings + Some New Cheats
September 16, 2008 · Print This Article
Well, the big day was today, i’m sure that most of you have already snagged your copy of The Force Unleashed. All over the internet, the reviews have been pouring in, some good… most bad. A lot of the reviews have been pretty harsh so far, mostly below 7/10 and some people are hesitating on buying it because of that. You have to remember, that these places giving the reviews are critics and they’re supposed to pick the game to pieces.
I would suggest buying it and playing it for yourself. A lot of my friends who have bought the game absolutely love it and have had no problems with it. Of course ForceUnleashed.org will be doing a review shortly.
On anther note, a bunch of new cheat codes have surfaced, check them out on our cheats page.
So far, here are the review scores:
GameSpot:
PS3/360: 7.5
Wii: 6.0
Official Xbox Magazine: 7.5
IGN: 7.3
GameTrailers: 6.3
DailyGame: 80/100
3DJuegos: 79/100
PS3 Official Magazine: 70/100
Electronic Gaming Monthly: 56/100
The first quote of a review from GamesRadar.com:
This is not the game you’re looking for. Yes, it’s a massive shame. We’ve been salivating over The Force Unleashed for two years, as have most of you, but the end product just doesn’t live up to the massive expectations it built up. Well, as a game anyway.
LucasArts has billed The Force Unleashed as the link between the rather bloated Episode III, Revenge of the Sith, and the excellent original film, Episode IV, A New Hope. As a story, this game hits the spot. In fact, we’d go as far as to say that this is one of the best pieces of storytelling you’ll find on current-gen. No wonder George Lucas gave it his official thumbs up. It doesn’t try to cram in anachronistic cameos, or shoehorn in clever little nods to the original films to try and make itself cool: it just weaves a magical story that’ll keep driving you to the end, no matter how irritated you might get with some of the game’s clumsy flaws.
That’s pretty harsh in my opinion.
Now take the official reviews by websites and magazine sites and compare them to some fan reviews taken from the LucasArts forums:

2. Well I got the game the game last night at midnight and I played the kinda tutorial mode with,SPOILER—!!! darth vader. It was insane awsome the power that u have lol..I love force choking wookies then hurling them into trees(which actually collapse and fall!!!). I only played that then I had to go to school. so far so good lol. CUT SCENES ROCK. force throw is a little hard to get the hang of though.
3. 9 out of 10

Honestly, they did so badly with the gameplay its horrible. I almost turned it off after playing as darth, animation was not fluid what so ever, even the cut scenes the guy walks like a moron. Honestly its not new science use a group of actors to create the animation seriously. Furthermore, whats with the lack of force powers….. Lucas should stick with companies that know how to make games like bioware.
I don’t think people should be so hard on this game, I have it on Wii and love it to pieces.
If you arent sure on getting, I would definetly advise you do so
guys the SITHLORD and JEDIMASTER cheat doesn’t work
are they for 360/Ps3?
AMAZING game. This is one of the few games that I’m glad I bought. I started playing campaign on sith lord and I have to say, the bosses do not match the difficulty. I flew through the levels, slicing and dicing storm troopers, and when I get to a boss, I have to give it about 3 tries. I can’t imagine what the last difficulty will be like. -.- I am also disappointed that there is no online play, or atleast co-op campaign. Online would have really put this game over the top.
Ok, I have the wii version and I will say for someone who was played nothing but Wii games, the graphics are not that bad. I will say that after watching all the gameplay from gametrailers for X360 and PS3, I’m a little disappointed in the character animation in the cut scenes, they just look weird.
My other issue is how sloppy the controls are when attacking and using combos. It’s frustrating when I’m trying to slice left and right and the game reads my movements as a jab or lunge. Because of this, I suffer quite a bit of damage.
I do enjoy using the force powers and deciding the fate of the enemies. With all the force abilities, I simply enjoy picking people up and dropping them over edges.
The storyline (so far) is more than impressive. I am looking forward to reading the book.
Finally, a question: Can I revisit previous level to collect my powerups and holocroms??? It doesn’t appear so…
Anyway for the Wii I would give the game a 7.5 out of 10.
I think its the best game ever! I mean there is nothing like hitting a wookie bridge with force push and watch all the wookies stumble or fall off the bridge its just awesome. The force choke is insane right off the bat i was like “You have failed me storm trooper” and then choked him…it was awesome! The game is a must buy…
P.S. I LOVE GRABBING TIE FIGHTERS OUT OF THE AIR!
Got the game yesterday around 5 went home and played it wasn’t impressed with the Vader start (mainly cuz I’m impatient and he don’t run (so nothing against the game)) but the graphics are at the top of the game, story is amazing and on Sith Lord the game actually is a challenge at times, i only got past levels 1 and 2 and the boss fights certainly our amazing with the end press button sequences.
As for the critics talking about camera angles and how they are bad, they need to get used to being able to slice, dice, and center a camera at the same time.
My 2cents on this topic and may the force be with you all.
Beyond amazing. This game has earned a 10/10, or, were it possible, a 20/10. It’s literally like playing a Star Wars movie, with all the humor, romance, and redemption themes one would expect. The initial Vader level blew me away immediately, with his cape billowing in the wind realistically. In short: May the Force blow your mind!
I picked it up two days ago, and beat it. im not saying it’s short, I actually got around 15 hours of gameplay. I can’t stop playing it. Sure, once and a while the camera angel makes it a bit difficult to maneuver around, but that doesn’t take away from anything at all. The story was perfect, since it put everything into perspective from 3 to 4. The gameplay is awesome. The combos will have you doing something different against every wave of enemies, so i’m sick of people saying it get can repetitive. I really love this game. 10/10
After completing the game once (good ending) I have seen this game inside and out on Hard mode, ready to play Expert.
Everything i said previously still applies with the addition of the precise thought it takes to get some of the holicrons
the only thing i nit pick (which isn’t a big one) is during the cinematics they should’ve had the lightsaber and the outfit transfer over to them. But with that said the story was Amazing and I’m ready to see what i missed on a more challenging scale.
I can’t seem to be able to defeat the first boss. Any tips?
P.S. I’m using the Wii version
Yeah as someone before said SITHLORD and JEDIMASTER don’t work as codes. (Playing 360 version)
I have the Wii version and have enjoyed the 10+ hours I’ve put into it so far. the Nunchuck and Wiimote make it feel like you are actually doing the moves as opposed to just pressing buttons. Even if some of the sensitivity is a bit off.
To answer the “replay a level” question. After you beat the game you go back to the first missions with all your stuff unlocked. It’s a lot of fun to take on low level enemies with high level powers *evil grin* and the endgame is still a challange.
Has anyone else found the alternate ending?
I LOVE THE GAME ONLY BAD THING I ONLY HAVE 2 ACHIEVMENTS LEFT……SNIFFLE
