A Few Updates On Force Unleashed Game Glitches…

October 13, 2008

As we wait patiently for LucasArts to give us something, a patch, some news or something that will help ease some of our pain and sorrow towards some of the glitches we’ve been having. There has been some news, multiple people have contacted LucasArts on the, “Default Text Glitch”, which seems to be the majority of The Force Unleashed owners (mostly on the XBOX 360 version). This was LucasArts response:

“This is a problem we are currently investigating”

I guess it is a little re-assuring that they are looking into it, although they seem to be taking their time. I noticed that even on their official support forums, there is a plethera of questions, that have no answers, or for that matter any response at all, which is kind of strange, at least they could do is add a courteous reply of, “we’re working on it”.

A fan did email Microsoft on the issue of loading problems, which they actually replied with some kind of solution, whether or not it will work for you or not, but it never hurts to try:

I emailed Microsoft about the issue some of us have been having with the game refusing to load up after downloading updates for other games. The “clearing the cache” option is the same as the one posted earlier on a separate post, and it worked for me, but it looks like there are a few other options. I heard that this clearing thing didn’t work for some people, though so maybe this will help. Here is a copy of their response, and I hope that it helps people.

Thank you for contacting Microsoft online support for XBOX! I am Martin and I will be helping you today with this issue.

As I understand it, after your Xbox 360 performs an auto-update, you cannot play a specific game or sign in to Xbox LIVE for that game.

I know how disappointing it is to have issues playing a game after an update. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience this has caused you. Please be assured that I will do my best to help you resolve the issue.

This behavior occurs if the auto-update is corrupted. This corruption can occur because of line noise, because the download was interrupted, or for other reasons.

Here are some things that you can try to resolve the issue or to determine what the cause is. If you are unable to get the issue resolved by yourself, please contact Xbox Customer Support at the number indicated below.

To work around this behavior, you need to remove the potentially corrupted game auto-updates.
Important! You will have to re-download any previously downloaded game updates, as these steps will remove these updates as well. ”

In the meantime check out a great review of Metal Gear Solid 4 – Guns of the Patriots (Amazing game) Via: Testfreaks!

Other than that, there hasn’t been a peep from Microsoft regarding these issues. We’ll stay on top of it though, so check back frequently and don’t forget about our free Force Unleashed Prima Guide givaway! Check out more info on the main page and in our forums!

The Force Unleashed: Some Game Fixes + XBOX 360 & Playstation 3 Comparison…

September 18, 2008

Well so far, there have been many problems with The Force Unleashed. This seem ecpecially often with the XBOX360 for some reason. Anyway, LucasArts has released some fixes or an attempt at fixes and some general questions & answers, they are as follows:

How do I keep my Xbox 360 saves from becoming corrupted?

Save games that are corrupted cannot be repaired. Please try loading a different save game from an earlier point to see if this resolves the issue. Try the steps below to prevent the problem from happening again.

1. We generally suggest making fairly frequent saves and alternate save game slots. This way, if one save game file goes bad, you can use one of your other recently saved games. If you have used any cheats then it may affect your save game.

2. We also suggest copying any save games to a memory card each day to keep a backup in case your Xbox 360 hard drive fails.

3. Try clearing your cache of the game. Most games use the Xbox 360 hard drive extensively to cache (copy and reuse) game data. This is done to optimize all loading the game does. It has been found in rare cases on some Xbox 360s that the cached data can get overly fragmented. This exhibits itself by the game taking a long time to load anything from menus, dialogue, sounds, objects, levels, and more.

To solve this problem, reset your Xbox, and hold down the A button as the game is booting up. If any button is held while the game is loading, it will clear its hard drive cache, and create a new one. Once you see the game logo video, the game is already loaded, and the cache should have been cleared. Note, this does not affect your game in any way other than loading. You will not lose any saved data.

4. Delete any save files or games you no longer use from your Xbox hard drive.

Using these steps can help to prevent problems with saved games.

I accidentally deleted / overwrote my saved game. Is there anyway to get it back?

Once a saved game has been overwritten or deleted it is gone. The best way to avoid this problem is to have multiple saved games. Many players have different saved games for different purposes such as before and after a tough battle.

The main screen not coming up and its getting stuck on xbox logo screen or black screen. It doesnt do anything when I hold down a to clear cache.

To resolve this issue, please do the following:

Make sure you don’t have the game disk in the console and you do everything in the right order.

1. First, go to the Dashboard and access the “system” blade and select memory.
2. Next, go to the hard drive tab and open it.
If you have downloaded a copy of the TFU Demo delete it.
Then, delete any previous saves from TFU
3. Restart the Xbox.
4. Go back to the system tab and select memory again, but do not ‘open’ the hard drive.
5. Hit “Y”, it should open another options window for the HD.
6. On the controller hit X X LB RB X X and select ok.
7. You should get a message about maintenance to the 360.
8. Restart the console again and insert the disk and enjoy.

I will be keeping tabs on any fixes I find and I will post them here.

In another news, GameTrailers has posted a neat video, that compares the XBOX 360 gameplay with the Playstation gameplay. Check out the video below to check out the differences.
