Code name: Starkiller…

June 5, 2008

A quick follow up post on The Secret Apprentices name. In the last post we talked about how The Secret Apprentices name was revealed. Starkiller, apparently is just a codename that Darth Vadar uses for his new apprentice (I’m guessing it’s like Darth Vader is a codename for Anakin). So we still have yet to learn the real name of The Secret Apprentice.

I kind of like this, I wasn’t fond of Starkiller at first, but then it grew on me and then I started to really like it. Now, I really like the news that it’s just a code name and that we really don’t know his true name yet. It’s nice that they’ve kept that in somewhat of a suspense for when we play the game.

But yet… I am very, very curious now as to what it will be.

“W contacted Lucasarts to see what the deal was with the name. We got a reply from Adam Kahn, who is the Public Relations over at Lucasarts for The Force Unleashed. He told us:

“I can confirm that “Starkiller” is the Secret Apprentice’s code name in the game, but we haven’t revealed his real name.”

So, there you go, everyone. Starkiller is the codename that Vader uses most likely to refer to his Apprentice. It is NOT his first or last name, and his real name has yet to be revealed.

StarKiller? The Secret Apprentice revealed?…

May 26, 2008

I’ve been reading just about everywhere that the name of the Secret Apprentice in The Force Unleashed is called “StarKiller“. At first I didn’t like it at all, I thought it was kind of cheesy.. but now, I think i’m starting to like it a little bit more each day.

I started thinking to myself, where did the people get this from? I had no idea, I actually came across it looking at The Force Unleashed page on Wookiepedia and under Characters I saw this excerpt:

Starkiller

Starkiller.”The young man has a knack for the Force and a dark slant to his attitude – making for a less-than-typical lead character for a Star Wars title.” —IGN

“While your character is plenty evil-looking and wields a red lightsaber, company reps were quick to point out that he isn’t a Sith at all. In fact, concept art shows the character wearing a sort of shackle on his wrist that Vader apparently uses to control him…” —GameSpot

In the game, the player shares a love interest with Juno Eclipse, an Imperial who pilots your ship, the Rogue Shadow.

A couple of other sites I frequent, have posts about this StarKiller as well. Neat.. so where did they get this rumor from? I know it’s not official because i’m on the official site all the time and I didn’t see it posted anywhere. After digging a bit I came across an article from NZgamer.com stating the following:

Our second piece of exclusive information is in regards to the games protagonist, Darth Vader’s secret apprentice. You may not have realised it but he hasn’t been given a name publically, other than the moniker of “Secret Apprentice”. That is until now. Ladies and gentlemen, our anti-hero’s name… is… Starkiller.

Die-hard Star Wars fans will find this name rather familiar, and they should as it is the original name George Lucas intended Luke to have back when Star Wars was nothing but thoughts and ideas in Lucas’ head. The name stuck until the forth revision of the Star Wars script where Luke Starkiller was renamed to Luke Skywalker. A nice homage to what once was.

Very interesting to say the least. I’m still a little skeptical but it sounds solid enough. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

StarKiller was also was a Separatist superweapon crafted during the Clone Wars. It was a “hyperspace-point destabilizer,” which meant that it could cause ships to dramatically shift course in hyperspace, resulting in them flying into black holes, stars, and other celestial bodies.

The Starkiller was destroyed at Kromus before it was allowed to launch and leap into hyperspace. Its destruction destabilized the tectonic structure of the planet, killing many. Darth Sidious thought the Starkiller data could still prove useful for another weapon project, likely the Sun Crusher.
