Due for a summer release (7/15/2008), Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, the latest installment in the Star Wars saga, will excite gaming fans who enjoy Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation 2. Developed by Lucas Arts, the game allows players to take on the role of Darth Vader’s “Secret Apprentice” and learn much more about the Star Wars galaxy.

The game is set during the “dark times” that take place between Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope. Players will help unleash Vader’s fury as they hunt and destroy Jedi. Other notable characters in the game include Darth Vader, Maris Brood, Juno Eclipse, Princess Leia, and General Kota. Gamers will also be able to visit planets such as Kashyyyk (the Wookie home planet), Raxus Prime, Felucia, and even Imperial TIE fighter construction facilities.

When LucasFilm developed Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, they definitely unleashed some of the best gaming technology known. Case in point, this game will be the first time any gamer experiences Digital Molecular Matter (DMM), by Pixelux Entertainment as well as euphoria by NaturalMotion Ltd. These two technologies combined allow the majority of the game to be played unscripted, because of the simulation abilities.

DMM allows for the physical properties of any matter within the gaming world to react as it would in reality. So, glass will shatter like glass, plant life bends in the wind as plants do, Jabba the Hutt’s rolls of fat will bounce as he laughs, and so on. The game’s behavioral simulation engine, euphoria, allows the interactive characters within the game to act like human beings; this means that in each scenario, depending on different environmental and gamer variables, the characters’ reactions will differ.

In addition to forces of technology throughout this Star Wars game, there are many actions gamers can engage in. The Secret Apprentice has four core Force powers, including Force push, grip, release, and lightning, which all can be upgraded with game play. These powers can be unleashed and combined in never before seen ways during The Force Unleashed game play. For example, players will be able to, as the Secret Apprentice, Force grip enemies in midair, shoot them with lightning, and slam them into the ground, exploding them.

The next chapter in the Star Wars saga, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed tells the story of Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, a mysterious figure who has been trained by the menacing Sith Lord to hunt down the remaining Jedi.

Set in the dark times between Episodes III and IV, the sotry is both a continuation of the prequel trilogy – exploring the aftermath of Order 66 and focusing on the continued evolution of Darth Vader and a direct bridge to the Classic trilogy. The Force Unleashed will forever change the Star Wars galaxy and lead directly to events in Star Wars: A New Hope.

Developed under the direction of George Lucas, the storyline for The Force Unleashed remains a closely guarded secret. However, it has been revealed that the Secret Apprentice’s journey takes him across the galaxy. From the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk to the junkyard planet Raxus Prime and the mushroom covered Felucia.

He will be aided in his dangerous missions by a loyal sidekick Proxy, a prototype holodroid with amazing abilities and a beautiful Imperial Pilot named Juno Eclipse.

The apprentice will clash with powerful Force wielders, including the spirited Zabrak warrior Maris Brood, and General Rahm Kota, a hard boiled Jedi soldier who senses that the Aprrentice is destined to become something far greater than just darth Vader’s servant.

    • You will play as Darth Vader’s secret apprentice and will help him exterminate the last of the Jedi.
    • Vader finally came to realize that the Emperor had tricked him into turning towards the dark side, but he knows it’s too late to go back, so the only thing he can do is destroy the Emperor with another apprentice. You.
    • You start off as a skilled Sith with the majority of powers at your disposal, from Push to Lightning. Throughout the game your powers can and will evolve to legendary strength.
    • The choices that the player makes will affect the outcome of the game resulting in several alternate endings including the “true” ending.
    • In the game, the player shares a love interest with Juno Eclipse, an Imperial who pilots your ship, the Rogue Shadow.
    • By the end of the game, you will have a deeper understanding of Darth Vader and how the events in the game affect his behavior in the original trilogy

    • tony:

this game does need to be on wii. one of the reasons i got a wii was for a chance to weild a lightsaber in astar wars game.

    • Roberto:

the game will be released on pc??

    • We’re still not sure whether it will be released on PC, right now it looks like it won’t be but you never know.

    • Man this game looks aweomse,it will be sweet playing as a bad guy for once instead of emo jedi 😀

    • Freeman:

I think that it would be a crime against all of us, the PC users, who grew up playing and living the Jedi Knight game serial, not to feel this magic on our desktops. If not for us, then in the name of Kyle Katarn, PLEASE PORT THIS GAME TO PC!
I am sure that it would pay of financially.

    • Hannah Kearsley:

this DEFINATELY needs to be on the wii! wielding a lightsabre with the wii remote would be absolutely fantastic – forget the ps3 rubbish. tht would be nothing compared to doing it with the wii-mote.

      should be ace nonetheless though.

    • Foldy:

This game may even be able too convince me too buy a 360 purely for it !!!

    • Phoenix101:

AAAARGH!!! Not on the PC??? NOOOOOOO!!!
You’ll definately make a bundle. How about making 2? Then
      release a PC version, please!
We, the PC folk, have followed truly the Star Wars games
across the years. You cannot forsake us now!

    • Hi all!

      Very interesting information! Thanks!

    • Mike:

Will this game be for online play?????? please say yes

    • It’s still unsure whether there will be online play yet. We do know that there will be a multiplayer mode anyway, so chances are there will be some kind of online play… hopefully anyway.

    • Naztor:

But will the game come out on Nintendo Wii ?

    • Phoenix101:

Ok, I know i REALLY am a pain, but if this game’s going to be on the pc, could it be linux based? Please? I’ll pay you guys direct to have a copy shipped!

    • Jedi Master Snuggie:

Foldy: I did!!! Heard about the game and that is wasn’t coming out for PC. So I went out and bought a Xbox 360. I am a hard core PC Gamer, it is taking me some time to get use to the controller on the Xbox. So I would say go out and buy one. I did. I am also I BIG Star Wars Geek. Have played all Star Wars games for PC. Academy was my favorite. Would love one the contuied that story line.

    • Markos:

Yeah, this game really does look something. I like RPG’s like Kotor series, i’ve heard there making a Kotor 3 if so it will be a MMORPG which is a sad day to all Star Wars gamers. This game i’ve heard will let you do some customizations like your lightsaber colour and style e.c.t. It will also feature something like the morality meter like on the Kotor series (the bar which tells you if your light or dark side) but not the same as on Kotor. The force powers are going to be radical and over the top which I think I speak for everyone “so cool”. Hopefully the game will actually let you use the force like proper Jedi and Sith, meaning the force bar that does’nt drain all your force bar down after a little burst of force lightning. Good think i,ve heard directly from Lucasarts is that you can use some force powers all the time like push you can use over and over again. And the new one Repulse (360 force push 10 times more powerful than force wave) will only take you a second to charge up. Lightning everyone’s favourite dark side power (except crush on kotor 2) from what i have seen you can use it for quite abit of time not like on jedi knight series were your force bar is depleted. Grip I think the makers are actually confused with Grasp. Grasp lets you pick up objects and people and throw them about, where grip lets you do the same while your strangling them. And you can always use your trusty lightsaber which comes with saberthrow and a whole variaty of moves like on ROTS game. So fingers crossed everyone and i can’t wait till spring.

    • I also can’t wait until the game comes out.I put all of my predictions about the game on the characters page which I got to from an external site. This game is going to be off the hook! It’s definately worth every penny! I do also agree that it should be on the Wii. I was so looking forward to playing starwars games on the Wii swingging the lightsaber and all, but then I found out that the only star wars game on the Wii was Lego Star Wars. I had already played and beat the game on the 360. I didn’t want to play it again. So I learned from a trusty source that Star Wars The Force Unleashed seemed promising. So I waited and waited until some legit information came out. And guess what. NO Wii! I just got my Wii for christmas and I want to use it to it’s full extent. So, all I’m asking from you star wars game makers (I’m not sure what to call you) is that in the future, make a Wii compatible game. So with that said, well… you know what they say…

May the Force be with you

    • Jonathan:

I LOVE STAR WARS. I have all 6 dvds for my plasma screen and a real sized yoda in my house (call me geek idc its the shit lol) I’m still debating on whether or not to actually BUY the game because i hate spending money and id probaly beat it in about a day or 2 cause id play it till i did beat it…sooo im hoping it has online with leaderboards ranks…u kno that kinda stuff…i’d definetly buy it then because itd never get old (assassins creed)

    • Jonathan:

by the way you guys are awesome, great idea on the game

    • this game is coming out for the wii

    • Markos:

Yes I have heard directly from Lucasarts that they are making the game for the wii. Which will be fun but i’v heard and seen no joke that there are loads more levels on the psp version. My brother works for WWCTC/ World Wide Computering Technology Corporation (basically Helpers of some of the games technology) he was one of the 4 game testers and he has played the game on all platforms, and he says that the ps3 version is the best but the psp version gives u more levels. http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/123642.html follow this link if you don’t believe me. An interview and game play of the extra level
